Domesticated mice are known as fancy mice.  The animals are small, nocturnal and are not inclined to bite.  Mice are sociable animals and should be kept in pairs, but owners should be certain about the gender of their pets as mice can produce a new litter every three weeks. Mice live an average of 18 to 30 months and are typically 16-30 cm long.
