Syrian (or Golden) hamsters are very popular at the New York Hamster House. It is important to note that Syrians are territorial loners and will attack other hamsters if they come across them. Syrians are known to be good first pets for children, as they are generally docile and tend not to bite. They are typically 5-7 inches long and have a 2-3 year lifespan.
