THE ESSENCE OF THE DOMINICAN PEOPLE


Until recently, many aspects of the Afro-Dominican culture were looked down upon by most in the Dominican Republic.  But through the centuries that culture held on the countryside.

Now, a new generation of singers and musicians are helping to bring palos and salves music, which are derived from religious rituals, to the mainstream Dominican audience.
